This week, we were able to partner with the Bella Vista Police Department, Pea Ridge Police Department, and the Bentonville Police Department to provide First Aid and Trauma Training to their K9 Units.
This 4 hour course teaches the officers how to handle things from a broken toenail to a heat stroke or even a gunshot wound. We also taught the officers K9 CPR and did a hands on bandaging lab. Each officer received a Trauma Kit equipped with supplies to handle any first aid or trauma situation that they could encounter in the field.
A big thank you to Bella Vista Animal Hospital for sponsoring some of the Trauma Kits and providing “cop batteries” (donuts). Special thanks to Maverick the goose dog for doing an excellent job helping with bandaging!
We hope these officers never have to utilize our training, but they will be prepared if they do!
