Our Mission

At the Animal Emergency & Specialty Clinic of Northwest Arkansas, our K9 Trauma Response Program was established by our dedicated Medical Director Dr. Shaw, driven by his profound love for working K9s. Our team consists of passionate individuals who share this love, focusing on educating others about K9 health and collaborating closely with these remarkable working dogs.

Our mission is to forge strong relationships with first responders, officers, and public safety personnel. We aim to provide them with the essential knowledge and tools to care for K9 officers in the event of a tragedy, ensuring they can stabilize and transport these brave dogs to our facility for further treatment. Together, we strive to enhance the safety and well-being of our K9 heroes.

Here for you and your pets 24/7/365 days.

About Our Course

<

Our K9 Trauma Response Team has dedicated countless hours to developing the most comprehensive and effective course for first responders. Each officer participating in our course receives a detailed booklet covering all the topics discussed during the presentation. They are also provided with a personalized trauma bag, complete with their K9 partner’s name and all the necessary medical supplies reviewed in the course.

In addition to the theoretical knowledge, officers gain hands-on experience with techniques such as bandaging and participate in mock scenarios to practice their skills. Our goal is to ensure that every first responder is fully equipped and confident in handling K9 emergencies, providing the best possible care for their K9 partners.

Our Sponsors

Our K9 Trauma Response Program deeply appreciates and respects our first responders, and we ensure that every course is a fully sponsored event. Designed to educate public safety personnel on K9 safety, this course is made possible thanks to the generous support of our community sponsors.

Their contributions help us cover the costs of the course, booklets, and trauma kits, enabling us to provide this vital training at no expense to the participants. We are profoundly grateful for their commitment to enhancing the safety and well-being of our K9 heroes and their human partners.

We extend a special thank you to our vendor sponsors for their generous support of our recent K9 trauma course. Your contributions play a crucial role in helping us educate and equip first responders to care for their K9 partners. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and dedication to K9 safety.
